The rest of the UK lags behind London in terms of access to data services over 4G, according to a report from the OpenSignal and Which?

While mobile users in London can access 4G almost 70% of the time, in Wales users can access it only 35% of the time, the results suggest.

UK communications regulator Ofcom gets a lot of complaints about mobile coverage. Meanwhile, all mobile phone companies said they are investing in their mobile networks.

Although London has the highest availability of 4g, the number of users trying to use the network means that overall performance was behind other areas of the country.

"It's clear mobile providers must do much more to improve their networks if they are to provide greater access to their customers," said Alex Neill of Which?

In an earlier report by OpenSignal and Which?, 4G was accessible by users only about half the time.

"Finding a 4G signal outside of London can still be a bit tricky," said Brendan Gill, co-founder of OpenSignal, but added that mobile data speeds were "consistently fast".
